Do you ever wonder what 'Cabin Life' was like over a half
century ago? Considered a 'Historic Site',
'Amy's Mink' Captain's Retreat is one of the oldest original
cabins on Lake Greenwood. She was built of hard mill-cut lumber
by our Grandfather John (JC) Thomas over 60-years ago! Although we have outfitted her with all the modern conveniences "Amy's
Mink' is reminiscent of the past, when times were simplier and authenically real. Our Grand-father (JC Thomas and once mayor
of Clinton, SC (1970-72)) named her after our Grandmother Amy. An avid outdoor sportsman, Granddad equipped her for all our
favorite lake activities: recreation, swimming, fishing, hunting and "kicked back" relaxing. We keep her historic
for the omni once and memories. We are reminded of how life use to be. Lake Greenwood was built between the years
1935-1940 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt as part of the "New Deal". She was built as a hydroelectric reservoir to power the Greenwood area and to put America back to work and provide electricity. The lake area at one time was farmlands harvasting primarlily
corn and cotton. W with the
Saluda and Reedy Rivers and numerous creeks running through the land. You can still view the river beds while chart navigating
the lake. Our cabin is spacious inside and
out with a large living & dining area, and fireplace (unvented natural gas) that heats the cabin as well. She sits
on the original lot measuring 100' (flat shoreline) X 250'. Strategically located on the "main-lake" of Lake Greenwood,
our cabin is secured for more privacy, less traff, a large flat front yard with a shallow shoreline and stunning sunsets for
relaxed family recreation. The cabin is on the eastern shoreline slap-dab in the middle
of this approximate 22-mile beautiful lake with numerous creeks and two rivers that feed her. If you have never been to 'Amy's
Mink' Captain's Retreat on beautiful Lake Greenwood, SC then you are in for a treat! Ya'll come on down and enjoy the southern
comfort and hospitality!
